Dear Friend,                                                                                                                        If you would like to achieve your goals, become more successful, gain momentum and crush 2022, this will be the most important letter you have ever read.

You Really Can Set Goals That You Fulfill

What if you set a goal and actually fulfilled it? How would that change your life? What would that mean to you? What else would you be able to accomplish?

So how is it possible? How can you set goals that you actually keep working at?

First let me share this poll with you. 

Listen, if you’re one of these 4.2% who focus just on problems, I don’t want to help you and I refuse to do so, because the fact of the matter is you simply do not have the foundational mindset to build upon. If you’re not willing to focus on growing, becoming stronger, then you will take up precious time from the others and that just isn’t fair to them.  If you are one of those 4.2 percenters then the truth is you will be wasting time, your time, my time and the time of the fellow participants. Time is our most precious commodity. Each second should be guarded as if it was gold. The fact of the matter is this program is to advanced for you and I cannot help you. If this offends you that’s the problem, come back when it doesn’t.


Do Unto Others As You Would Have .... ...........................Them Do Unto You

I think some of the best advice out there is, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” I don’t know about you, but I like it when people are up front with me regarding their intentions. If you and I were working together, I’d want you to be upfront with me about your intentions. Because of that, I’m going to be really upfront with you about mine. In this letter, I’m going to show you X, Y, Z, so when we’re done, you’ll really know how to A, B, C. Now obviously that’s just results and topics. I’m just giving you a variable there. At the end, I’m going to offer you my product. I’m not going to be obnoxious or disrespectful about it, but I’m going to do the best I can to show you how valuable it is so you’ll try it. Now some people don’t like that. That’s okay. I understand. If you’re one of those people, then just go ahead, leave this page right now, or just be sure to leave when I start talking about it. I truly wish you all the best.

Awareness, Is it really the key?

Let’s get back to it. We left off with:  So how is it possible? How can you set goals that you actually keep working at?

Did you know that according to a Harvard study the average person spends 47% of their day on autopilot?

You see autopilot has gone from being an evolutionary protection mechanism to help our brains process information, to our default mode of operating,  where we make choices and decisions and we don’t even realize it. Don’t believe me? Have you ever walked into a room and flicked the light switch to turn the lights on only to find out the lights were already on? Or maybe you, like me drove home from work the other day and after pulling into the driveway had the thought “How’d I get here? I don’t remember getting off the highway”

Part of our goal problem is we set them and forget them, believing that just like much of the rest of our lives autopilot will take over for us. When it doesn’t it leaves us wondering “What just happened?”

So Yes Awareness is A key but not the only one.

Proximity Key Number Two

Proximity simply means to be near someone or something.  Being in the right room with the right people will do amazing things for you. When you surround yourself with like minded individuals they start to rub off on you.  Let’s say you want to start jogging. You buy all the equipment the windbreaker, the sneakers, the water bottle and you run the first week and the second week, then you start the third week and it’s a bit more chilly out. Then one day it rains, the next it’s foggy and you fall out of your routine. Your goal just fizzles out. 

 What happens if you had a buddy you were jogging with and now you can’t just quit. If you stop, then they will also, and you can’t let them down.  This is just one example of proximity. Proximity will push you, support you, get you thinking and most importantly keep you going. 


Proximity breeds accountability. Showing up and getting things done because you said you would. It helps you build a strong mindset and sets you up to continue to push through when times get hard. Accountability can take on many different forms. A jogging friend, a habit tracker, a text reminder, a photo of a family member. Really accountability can look like anything. Take for instance the photo to the left. That’s part of my accountability a watch and a post it, can’t get to much simpler than a post it. There’s a long story behind them but suffice to say it involves making sure nothing like what they represent ever happens to me again. If we ever cross paths ask me about it, I’m more then happy to share. 

Mindset is Foo-Foo

Quick side note here. As a child we would use this phrase to mean unrealistic or imaginary. For this letter I’m not quite sure why but I decided to see what the real definition was and it turns out that it’s a food dish made from the cassava a root vegetable. Guess I have a new dish to try out. 🙂

Back to Mindset being Foo-Foo. First off if you truly believe that Mindset is Foo-Foo then I would suggest you stop now and leave. You’re just wasting your time here. 

If you are on the fence about Mindset. Maybe your Dad or a friend or a teacher said something derogatory about it and now that’s what you believe, I’ll just ask you this. Are they living a life you aspire to live? If you are looking to be financially free, are they? If you are looking to loose weight, have they? If you are looking to set Big Audacious Goals, have they? 

Let me tell you a story from my childhood. Each summer I would spend hours upon hours out back on the dock. I grew up literally over the water my house was built upon stilts. Every summer I would throw out the traps and lower the rings. As we caught the crabs we would toss them into buckets, as the crabs would start to climb out of the buckets other crabs would latch onto them and pull them back down. 

Don’t be a crab in the bucket. Don’t allow other peoples fears to hold you back. Now those close to you aren’t doing this because they want you to fail, just the opposite. They just don’t see what you see. They are still on autopilot. 

People Will Make Fun Of Me

Yes they will! Why will they? Because you are in the wrong room!

Jim Rohn once said “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with”

If you are going to find success, then you cannot be concerned with what others are saying about the journey you have chosen to take.  You need to put the Proximity effect into action. You see Proximity works just by the mere fact that you are near to. Doesn’t matter what you are near to. If you are in the company of the wrong individuals chances are you will incorporate their habits just to fit in. It goes to one of our human needs, connection.

I've tried to set goals before,.............
.................................It just doesn't work!

Really? Because just saying out loud or even putting pen to paper “I will loose 10 pounds by February 1st” won’t do it. 

Why is it that we set weight loss goals, we all have at one time or another, me included, loose the weight only to pack it back on plus another 10 pounds. It’s like the first 10 pounds went on vacation found some friends and brought them back to you. 

Maybe loosing the weight isn’t what we should be focusing on. Maybe working on ourselves, being committed, being accountable asking what can I do to be successful seeking out information on why that happens and then fixing it. 

When I was an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) part of the training was to focus not on what you see necessarily but what is the cause of what you see. If you have a toothache and you go to see the dentist, does he just prescribe a pain killer and send you on your way, or does he dig a bit deeper take an x-ray to explore how healthy the root of the tooth is? 

If you are only treating the surface you will never solve the problem.
